Education

Education program Education is highly valued in Tanzania, where you’ll find children with a true love of learning. But sadly, many children are only able to attend school until age 7. Work with Ukarimu Safaris and Tours and you'll support schools where the teaching staff is highly under-resourced and often unavailable. Help inspire children to foster a lifetime love of learning by introducing engaging new techniques, games, and enthusiasm. Be a part of the transformation; turning an educational system based on rote memorization into a vibrant setting where children can learn and develop on their road to maximizing their human potential.

Volunteer work and tasks vary depending on the specific placement and generally involve providing personalized attention, mentoring, educational support, or playing games and assisting with daily operations, such as cooking and cleaning. The objective of these projects is to provide operational support to under-resourced childcare centers, while fostering a two-way cultural exchange between volunteers, children and staff. As Ukarimu Safaris and Tours volunteer, you can feel confident that you will have a meaningful impact, while developing your global awareness and opening the minds of the children to new cultures and possibilities.

Teaching volunteer Projects enable volunteers to work alongside local teachers with the objective of promoting greater literacy, supporting opportunities for higher education, building vocational skills and enhancing career prospects among students. As a volunteer teacher, you may have the opportunity to teach independently, provide support to local teachers, or team up with other volunteers to take lessons in a range of classroom settings, including schools, tutoring programs, community, special needs facilities and childcare centers. Access to education and the opportunity to study English are highly valued in the communities around Tanzania.

Our volunteer projects are available year-round and are perfectly suited to volunteers who are up for a challenge and don't mind getting their hands dirty. Volunteer work and duties are varied and dependent on the type of project you choose to participate on.
